IN an amazing twist, some of Australia’s biggest green energy companies have joined forced to urge the Federal Government to get rid of their solar water heaters from a scheme designed to entice investment in renewable power.

Despite the greens being all about saving power, they have taken aim at Australia’s green energy policy, The Age writes.

The target requires 20 per cent of Australia’s power to be from renewable sources by 2020.

But the scheme has come under heavy fire since a $1600 subsidy flooded the market with renewable energy certificates from domestic solar water heaters, causing the certificates’ value to almost halve.

People have been getting in swiftly for the cash back offers on solar panels on their roof and other solar energy systems to save money on their next electricity and water bills.
