PHILLIP Island Natural Park is pretty much known as ‘penguin island’ to most Victorians.
It is where approximately 650 penguins beach on the island and the amount of seals have risen significantly also.
About 6000 pups are born there every November-December at Seal Rocks, 2km west of Phillip Island.
Part of the Rangers jobs is to protect these species and the environment surrounding them.
Rangers undertake pest animal and plant control, revegetate degraded landscapes, enforce park regulations, assist research projects and work closely with community groups.
Wildlife rehabilitation of over 500 animals per year is undertaken by dedicated staff in the park’s wildlife hospital.
Penguin Parade is arguably the Park’s greatest attraction.
Every night at sunset, the world’s smallest penguins titled The Little Penguins emerge from the sea and waddle to the shores of the sand dunes.
It is a truly amazing experience for those who love penguins or even those who want to know more about penguins in general.
Many celebrities from around the world come to visit these park every year.
There’s also koalas at Phillip Island Nature Park with the true Aussie atmosphere.
Churchill Island houses a trip back to history featuring heritage buildings, gardens, walking tracks and more.
Phillip Island is about 50 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD.
